H.O. scale layout Scenery Tips & Tricks
.
Let there be Light

The biggest thing that adds to a layout is LIGHTING!!! However, it is also one of the worst nightmares you can have... all that wiring, de-wiring just to replace a bulb, wanting a building right in the marshals way, etc... the solution, "plug" all your building in.

Start by wiring all your buildings (inside), then install a couple 1/16" brass tubes in two of the corners.  Wire all internal wiring to these tubes (one +, one - ).

Next, drill a couple holes in your layout where you want the buildings to go and insert a couple 3/32" brass tubes. Now just run a 'bus' wire connecting the layout tubes (again, one +, one - for each building) and plug your buildings in.

With this done, You'll never have to go under the table to fix / remove a building again... you can now simply lift out any building to fix or modify it later or remove it for that big race.
