Starting life as a stock US-1 Truck, THOR's cab was fitted with a electro-magnetic selector "Brain" to operate its 4 onboard motors (including cab). THOR operates on any standard slot car track equipped with reverse power. In reverse, a "Brain" selection is made... in forward, the selection is run.
The 'Robot' itself (trailer) is 100% scratch built. The 3 major movements (body, head, and arms) are motor operated, while additional movements (arms folding, jaws opening) are done via 'strike pads'.
With little more
than a flip of a switch and a squeeze of a controller trigger, THOR
comes
to life as it unfolds, picks up a car (foil body), and proceeds to tear
it apart.
Once finished, THOR
then transforms back to a standard looking 18 wheeler and simply drives
away... leaving behind the crushed carcass of its victim (and no trace
on how it happened).
